The Singapore Tour

December

Wei Han from Singapour, her husband Yikluen Hoong and their 2 daughters Ruru and Jun Ray came on a walk with me round the Albaicín and down through the historic centre of Granada.  We chatted about lots of topics and some difficult questions were asked (Which Sultan had the most wives?)  This whole issue fascinated young Jun Ray!!

4 guests from “Tours by Locals”

Dec 3rd (day time)

Beth & Tom Chire from Canada and Richard & Noelle Hess came to me through a webpage where locals in different destinations offer their insight knowledge to visitors (www.toursbylocals.com).  We walked up to the Albaicín and took in the superb view of the Alhambra and then wondered around the city before stopping in a tiny tapa bar for a snack.  Good wine and nibbles were enjoyed and a lot of “waffling” was done along the way.   My 4 lovely guests returned to the port where their cruise ship was waiting for them at the end of a great day.

Tom Van der Zanden

Dec 1st

Tom came from Belgium to Granada for 5 days and requested a tour on his first day.  After a walk through the Albaicín, we stopped off for a snack in a sunny terrace (December and sunshine!)  We were served a large and tasty tortilla de patatas (potato omelette).

The Abbas Sinkanter Tour

November

Zainab Abbas and Ali Abbas Sikander requested a tour with me a couple of days ago.  They were pleasantly surprised at the food and wine that was on offer as they hadn´t had much luck with their restaurant choices while in Spain!  Ali had been at a conference in the north of the country and they decided to extend their stay and explore.  Zainab had fond memories of a visit to Spain when she was a student.

Pakistan, Casa de vinos,

It was lovely meeting you and discovering that there is edible food in Spain :-))

Good luck with you future endeavours.

Fond regards

Zainab

Bill & Clemente

November

Bill and Clemente enjoyed 5 nights in Granada and I helped them try out some tapas bars.  They were brave and tucked into a plate of “caracoles” (snails) in this bar.  Both gents live in Los Angeles and are seasoned travellers with their own travel blog (www.korstick.blogspot.com).  Come again gentlemen and we´ll try out more bars!

Before we came to Spain, we arranged a “Tapas Tour” for Sunday night with Gayle Mackie, our beautiful Scottish hostess who has lived in Granada for about 15 years. If you ever come to Granada, this tour is a MUST! Gayle is the perfect hostess and explains everything as you go about the food, restaurants, and sites as you walk.

Neil Belsham & Co.

 Nov 18th

Neil and his 7 friends came on a golfing weekend.  They were practising their skills on the greens and then they enjoyed a tapa route round the city.  Neil has a house just outside Granada and he comes out regularly to visit the area.

Neil Burton & Jenny Wootton

Nov 4th

Neil and Jenny were from Australia and here they are in a tiny tapas bar tucked down a little alleyway.  Well worth it though as on occasions, you´ll get an impromptu flamenco singer in there to entertain you.  The bar used to be a “conversation house” and we enjoyed continuing the tradition that day!

Peregrine Travellers

Mid October

I collaborate with an Australian company called Peregrine Adventures and they send me small groups of visitors mainly from Oz and New Zeland.  We travel across Andalucia, visiting Seville, the “pueblos blancos” (white villages), Ronda and then finish in Granada.  I take them out on a very well deserved tapa night sampling the local delights.

The Leibrand Tour

Sept 18th

I took Amy & her husband Mike out on a tapa tour on a lovely September evening.  We enjoyed some great wine & chat (tattoos and pin up artwork amongst other things!)

Gayle,

Nice to hear from you! Our night out with you was a highlight of our trip, and I love the picture!

Hope all is well with you, and let us know if you are ever up for a tapas tour of Columbus, OH. The food won’t be as good, but the company will be excellent!

Cheers, Mike
