The American School in London

March 28th

This group of 16 students came from the American School in London (http://www.asl.org/).  We did a walk / talk type tour, passing by the historic moments and sampling tapas.  As we walked around, we played a game based on facts and figures about Granada.  The students participated enthusiastically.  They were accompanied by their 3 teachers, Victoria, Mario and Gracia.

Dear Gayle, Thank you for an AMAZING and engaging tapas tour. We were talking about it for the rest of the trip and almost every student mentioned it in their evaluation as a highlight. Here is the photo you took of us. Hope to do it again next year! Kind regards, Mario Rojas

Jim, Lisa, Greg & Moni Richardson

March 20th

A lunch time tour under the sun for Lisa, Jim, Greg and Moni.  They came up to Granada from the coast for the day, although Greg (son) had been in the city while he studying in Madrid.  We savoured the differences between Ribera and Rioja wine.  Lisa (mum) is an inspiring travel writer…I hope her tapa tour will give her some to write about!

Gayle, your tour in Granada was such a treat! We loved your generosity, selection of tapas bars and the way you inject a bit of yourself.  Thank you! Thank you!

Treasure Hunting Students

March 15th

This was a group of 38 language students from the Escuela Montalbán in Granada.  A draw at the end of the treasure hunt meant we had a tie-break question.  The Green team was the overall winner!

The Boulton Family

March 14th

The lovely Boulton family took this photo while visiting the Alhambra.  They also came on a tapa tour with me.  It was a cold night although it doesn´t look like it in the photo.  We tried out 4 bars (the favourite served us “pincho” type tapas, layers of ingredients piled up on top of each other and pierced with a cocktail stick).  Delicious!

 Hi Gayle,

We did enjoy the rest of our stay.  Your tour was definitely a hightlight, thank you so much.  Picture attached. Granada in background.

The John, Mary & Steve Tour

March 10th

John was on a 2 week language programme here in Granada and his 2 friends, Mary and Steve came to visit him.  They have been friends since school and don´t get to see each other often as John now lives in Australia.  The weather was kind to us on our lunch time tour and get sat out in a gorgeous square and sampled a competition entry tapa (the IV Tapa Competition was going on in the city at the time).  Good chat and good food, what more could you ask for!

Thanks  once again for a wonderful day on Saturday. It was a perfect way for three old schoolfriends to not only spend time together but experiance something totally different and “un-touristy”. We’d love to do it again sometime, Steve Davies

The Bill & Orlando Birthday Tour

Feb 2012

Bill and Orlando from Ohio, USA came on a 4 bar tapa tour with me and we had a ball!   They were visiting a few cities in Andalucía all as part of a birthday surprise for Bill – he had no idea where he was going until Orlando took him to the airport!  We enjoyed wine and avocados, beer and omelette and talked and talked and talked.  Bill is a Zumba instructor in the States (just like me!) so we have plenty to chat about.  My friend Lucy of GoGranda! joined us later in the evening too.

Italian Treasure Hunters

Feb 28th

There were FORTY NINE participants for this morning and afternoon Photographic Treasure Hunt.  The teams came from Gallarate, just north of Milan in Italy and were studying language at a school in Granada (Escuela Montalbán).  No one got lost and everyone had fun!

1st Montalbán Tour of 2012

Feb 20th

It was a freezing night but they did well to accompany me on a 1hr 30 min walk and then a 2 bar tapa sampling.  All sorts of reasons for learning Spanish brought these people to Granada from loving the country, to Uni time out, to getting a work placement in the city, to just for the fun of it…..I hope they enjoyed this extra activity!
